She knew the moment her lips touched his mouth that the last kiss they had shared was nothing at all. This – this violent burst of sensation in her bloodstream as she heard his sharp intake of breath and felt his lips mold against hers, fire to flame – was what kisses were supposed to be made of. Any description she had read, any visual she had gawked at in her twenty plus years on the planet, were no match to what was happening.

She pressed her lips into his, need she had rarely felt before, taking over her senses as her arms snaked up the front of his T-shirt and grabbed the lapels of his collar. It was akin to the sense of imminent loss and the promise of goodbye in the near future. Which was weird because wasn’t a kiss supposed to be the harbinger of good times? Shouldn’t she have felt her lips curving into a smile?

A gruff moan escaped his lips just as her brows knitted together as she felt his other free hand wrap itself around her waist and pull her flush against his body.

She had never been a physically affectionate person. Four years with Arjun had changed that to some extent. But nothing – NOTHING – could have prepared her for what Arnav’s body did to hers as her mind processed every single little detail with excruciating awareness – starting from his fingers that were splayed on the small of her back to his thighs that stood firm against hers right up to where her breasts were plastered against his chest. She could feel the hardened skin on the edge of her neck and the lick of his lashes against her cheekbones. It was then that she became aware of her glasses and how they stayed conveniently out of the way, much to her surprise. Her eyes flew open at the thought and she curled her fingers into his skin at the base of his throat.

As if reading her intentions, he tightened his hold on her – at the waist and the neck and slowly licked her lips with his tongue. Shocked at the surge of electric pulse in along her nerves, her mouth opened in a small captured gasp as she felt his kiss deepen.

She made an embarrassing sound as her left hand left his collar and curved around his neck. She had no clue if she was doing this right or not but since he wasn’t pulling away, she assumed she was free to ask for more.

Unfortunately for her, getting carried away with a kiss was clearly an eventuality she had not considered. If not for the fact that their bodies – paradoxically firm and fluid at the same time – were giving their deepest desires away, it was the sudden jerk of her arm that stretched her wound and made her audibly flinch at the blinding pain – enough to bring tears in her eyes. Or was it the overwhelming emotion that seemed to be coursing through her veins, finally spilling over?

“Shit!” He swore as he broke the kiss and let both his hands slide up her and down the small of her back in soothing circles. “I’m so sorry.” He stepped back and immediately turned to retrieve what she only now noticed was a small military style back-pack. Even as she stared, lips singing in slow chorus that was echoing in her ears, he extracted something and walked back to her.

“This is probably a little late…but…” He didn’t look at her while he spoke in barely audible rasps. He leaned in, crowding her senses as her eyes blinked and closed for a brief moment. She felt the cool touch of gel and skin on her burning skin – light and strangely uncomfortable in many ways. And then it was over.

She looked up and into his eyes, glazed and blurry. He looked flushed and golden, his hair even more tousled than it was when he had just walked in. She forced herself to not stare at his mouth – had she really kissed him so fervently? It was visible on his lips and in his eyes. It didn’t help that he wasn’t able to look anywhere other than her lips either.

“I’m fine.” She said softly as she tried to ignore how her mouth felt. Or the fact that she had just been kissed. Thoroughly. Completely. With no doubt of whether or not it could be classified as a kiss. And she had liked it. A part of her scoffed – liked? By Shiv-ji, she was so dead. What the hell had she done? How did one ever go back from here? By kissing him, she had consciously made the decision to keep this – and him – in her memory for the rest of her life. Five days ago, AV-Sir was still hovering around the edges of her past – one key milestone yes but still one that could be hoped to be forgotten. Now he was Arnav. And he had kissed her. How was she ever going to get over him now?

She frowned as her chest thumped nervously from within. Why was she thinking about getting over him? This should be the beginning. This was the true beginning

The answer was so obvious she was surprised it had taken her all this while to come to it. She blamed him – this person who was still holding her.

Shiv-ji, she groaned silently. He was still holding her. And she couldn’t stop thinking about going back to that kiss. Save me.

“You are going to say this was a bad idea,” He whispered and pressed his forehead against hers. “And that we should forget about it.”

Her heart slammed again against her ribs again. He seemed to be able to see through her and that scared the hell out of her. Relationships, her mother had said and she had always believed, were best worked when it was one of equals. This…this thing with Arnav Varun – it would never be equal. He would always hold this insane power over her. She knew it now. She had known it years ago. Yes, he was right. She knew this was a bad idea. And though she was a coward for not saying it out aloud, she believed it.

She shook her head and then realized she had no idea why she was shaking her head.

She took a small step back and watched as his arm loosened and fell away. He gingerly pulled himself away and looked up at her, his eyes searching her face.

“Arjun.”

“Arjun.” She whispered back in confirmation and bit her lips before looking away and taking one more step back. Away from him.

“We are not going to forget about this.”

Like she had claimed she had did before? She looked back up at him and saw him staring at her with that glint she had seen so often on this trip – it was almost as it was this brittleness that separated the AV-Sir she once knew from this Arnav.

This Arnav who had been so sure Tripti hadn’t been talking about Arjun that night.

This Arnav who had clearly not bought into her rationalization about not having feelings for him.

Of course, she concluded. He was never going to be convinced. She thought she was a good liar. That kind of confidence was bound to fall apart someday. And who better to discover the little crack than the man she kept falling in love with?

“I will not forget about it.” She said softly. I cannot forget about it even if my life depended on it.

“There is no going back to Arjun, either.”

In fiction, she knew, his words might have sounded like a command. Instead they were uttered like a plea, its polite, almost formal edges laced with a shard of urgency. She wished his words didn’t radiate little flashes of thrill up her solar plexus. “I was never with Ar…” She stopped herself in time. She may not have been with Arjun technically. But she had made a silent promise to herself. And to him. And now it lay broken. “If I was, I would never…I could never do that to him.” The warmth of the kiss was fast fading from her lips. A part of her was almost tempted to lean in and kindle the fire again. Except, Arjun had sneaked into the space between them. And he now stood their midst – a wispy memory and feeble voice she couldn’t drown out. Don’t break my heart.

Arnav took a deep breath and invoked damnation softly before pushing his right hand through his hair. He wasn’t looking at her now. And she could take those few minutes to study the desperation that seemed to be inked on his face, lines around his mouth. It made her want to wrap her arms around him again and kiss him till she could feel nothing except the drum of his heart against hers.

What had she been thinking when she had decided to give what Arjun was suggesting a chance? There was being delusional and then there was this…She had failed herself. And she was going to fail Arjun. “I have to tell him first,” She blurted out, more to herself than him, before panic completely drowned her senses. She needed to tell Arjun sooner rather than later. And he was going to ask her for reasons – which she now knew would break his heart. The angry outburst just last evening might have been ignored. But it couldn’t be forgotten. Her jaw clenched as she realized that her conversation with Arjun was hardly going to be a pleasant one but the extent of damage could in fact be of unimaginable proportions. When something unpleasant happened, it was in the nature of the Guptas to assume the worst was going to happen. She had, in relaxed times, laughed at it with Tripti. But now, with the fate of her friendship with Arjun hanging over her head, she found it far from funny.

“Khushi,”

She forced herself to look at Arnav to find that his eyes now were strangely shuttered. She watched as his jaw tightened as if he was gritting his teeth. He seemed angry and yet there was no reason for him to be angry. She had just said she needed to talk to Arjun first – it implied that she would come back to…this…that they shared. Even if she knew within that it was probably not as simple…Why then…She frowned. “I owe that to him,” She began and then fell silent, not knowing what to say.

He let out a deep sigh and shook his head. “I know and I understand. But…” He put his hands on his hips and turned away. “This is a mess. All of us…we really need to talk…” His words trailed away as he took a steps away from her. She didn’t hear what he finished that sentence with. But mostly because her mind was stuck on his words.

This is a mess

It was a mess. But the mess was hers. Unless…the only thing that was still tangled between them was his past with Saira. And she wanted to tell him that she didn’t care about what he once had with anyone anymore. Except she wasn’t even remotely capable of living with that curiosity. If this that they shared was real, then what did he have with Saira – the girl he was going to marry? And if that had come to naught, then what would this…ever come to? What did she want it to come to in the first place? Is that why he wanted to talk to her first. So that she would still have a way out if she so wished? Did that mean her feelings and her inability to walk away from him were invisible to him? Was her heart safe after all? And if it was, why wasn’t she more thrilled about it?

“But first, we need to go Rishikesh.” He said as he turned around, his face back to being even and placid as always.

She looked and him and shook her head slowly. “No seriously, I don’t want…”

“Unfortunately, I don’t think we are liberty to give in to our wants at the moment” He said softly to her, his eyes finally twinkling as they rested on her mouth and flipped back to meet her gaze.

She blushed furiously and swallowed in the hope that the little action would keep the blood from rushing to her face. “No, no…I mean…I can’t go like…” She looked down at herself trying to indicate to him that she was not dressed to leave the tent, let alone the camp, when she realized her clothes were in a complete disarray. The shirt she had opened most top buttons off to keep it pushed back and away from her bruise had slid down and had exposed a significant swell of her right breast. The left sleeve, loose as very few clothes were ever on her, had fallen away to her forearm. Her bra straps were peeking out of either sleeve. She looked up in utter shock, her face paling as she realized just how wanton she probably looked at the moment.

She stepped back and pulled her shirt up, her arms stretching her wound as she tugged at her clothes in urgent steps. She refused to wince even as Arnav shifted on his legs but refused to look away from her.

“Do you have a wide-necked vest or something…” He began, his voice raspy and sand-paper coarse as it slid against the column of her neck.

A vest? Was he kidding? She couldn’t step out of the tent with just a vest…not unless she wanted the entire world to see every part of her body spilling out of cloth. And why was he giving her clothing suggestion anyway? He needed to get out of the tent. She was just going to have to tell him to go as uncomfortable as it was.

“You remember reading about tetanus and lockjaw, right? Middle school biology? That is a real thing. Getting that tetanus shot, is non-negotiable. We need to go. And now.”

She bristled even though his tone was absolutely courteous. And she didn’t appreciate that he thought the only way to get to her was invoking school lessons and highlighting medical scares – even if it was working. Damn him.

“I’ll wait outside.”

With that he turned around and walked away, leaving her gaping at the rustle of the tent flap that now separated her from him. What the hell had just happened here in the last few minutes? She sunk to her bed and took a deep breath even as her thoughts churned into a whirlpool. She had gone from being kissed for the very first time to worrying about losing her best friend to feeling utterly naked and exposed to eyes that had never strayed from her gaze.

And now she was required to be alone with the man she didn’t want to peel herself off of.

She groaned and held her head in her palms, her eyes closing as her pulse procreated and chose to beat in her lips with just as much relish as it did just below her left shoulder.

———-

Eventually, it was a kurta she had tossed into her bag at the last minute while packing that came to her rescue. It left her back bare but stuck to her body and dipped too low on the front and the back to be decent. And in her current state, a dupatta was out of question. She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed. The bun Aditi had so carefully pulled her hair into was now a messy heap of entangled curls, most scraping her already injured skin, leaving flashes of burn memories behind each time. She pulled the band holding her hair down and tried to pull them back into a bun, only to wince every time she tried to raise her hands above shoulder level. Giving up after a few minutes of concerted effort, she pulled her hair into a bunch and let it hang on her other shoulder. She then took a deep breath and decided she couldn’t delay the inevitable any longer. The fear of lockjaw was way higher than the anxiety of being alone with Arnav again. Clenching and unclenching her fists, she walked towards the exit flap of her tent and stepped out into the sun.

Arnav was standing just a few feet away, hands folded behind, his back ramrod straight and held held high, like he was looking at something in the distance.

She walked up, her voice box trembling as she decided she would have to call him something to get his attention. AV-Sir – he didn’t feel like anymore. Arnav seemed too personal…anything else…Clearing her throat and saying let’s go was an option she didn’t quite like. As filmy as she was, embodying the sixties heroines was not exactly her idea of who she wanted to be. Why couldn’t he just turn around on his own?

Enough, Kaveri Gupta, she scolded herself. There should be an expiry date on melodrama. Get over it.

No sooner had she muttered that to herself, Arnav turned around and she stopped in her tracks. She had rarely known what to say to him and now that they had kissed, all she could think of was that. She needed to think about other things – anything that wouldn’t involve the memory of how it felt to…

“It might be a good idea to tie your hair up.”

“I’m not able to…erm…lift my hand…It seems to be jammed…” She shook her head. He was right. She plucked the cotton scrunchy off her wrist and gently lifted her hands to tie it on one side, without lifting her arms.

“I can…let me help,”

“Huh?” She asked as she squinted up at him, trying to see what his expression looked like but it was too bright and the sun was right behind his head, casting a dark shadow on his face and a halo around his head.

Before she knew it, he had come over around her, with his palm extended. Stumped, she quietly placed her band in his palm and waited as he gathered her hair, his fingers brushing against her scalp, her neck as he quickly pulled it up into a bunch behind her neck.

“Okay?” He whispered, his breath against her neck, his fingers grazing her shoulder before his hands fell away.

She nodded, unable to spit out a word in the aftermath of a bundle of nerves that her body was in the moment. She turned around to look at him again. There was something in his eyes that she couldn’t ignore as he watched her unblinkingly. For a second, it almost looked like he was going to kiss her again.

So she blinked and spoke quickly, before she lost her head. “How will we go to Rishikesh? The SUVs must have left to pick the others up from after rafting?”

She saw him smile softly as he looked at her.

“What?”

He shook his head. “You didn’t say car.”

She couldn’t help the fact that her lips curved of their own accord. “I am a mechanical engineer. And a Speed Motors employee. They are not cars. None of them are.”

This time he chuckled. “Hatchbacks and sedans?”

She shook her head. “Segments. Based on wheel base. Desi company. Only marketing and Sales is allowed to use international classification”

The two of them laughed and Khushi watched as Arnav’s face changed. There was glimpse of a boy she once knew – the one who had spoken so beautifully about wanting to spread his wings and explore new skies. It was heartening to see that he might still exist under all that gravity he now carried with him.

“What?”

She shook her head. “How are we going to Rishikesh?” She asked again.

This time his smile was sunshine and secrets, flirting, boyish. Drop dead gorgeous. “Bullet Electra.”

River Song, Music and Lyrics

Song Title: Sairat Zaala Ji

Album: Sairat (Wild)

Singers: Chinmayi Sripada, Ajay Gogavale

Music: Ajay – Atul

Lyrics (in Marathi): Nagraj Manjule, Ajay-Atul

For the English translation of the song, please visit this link. I  personally believe translating takes away the essence of the poetry (Hence the lack of translation for other songs). Marathi, however, I assume is less present here and hence the translation). Knowing nothing of Marathi though I have personally still not needed words to go with this song.

It’s a song about that streak of wildness, the little unspoken words that can catches you unaware one fine day – even if it is not as dramatic as our movies would have us believe!

    1. A note and another my fingers play,
A touch of lips, a taste that stays.
To love you slow, to love you deep,
Forever and over, and memories to keep.

I sing this song O love of mine,
Until stars will be and their shine.
So hold me close, set me free,
Until there’s nothing but you and me.

Until there’s nothing but you and me.

The kiss put stars in my eyes and then some. The first kiss is a treasured memory. An urge to etch those few moments into the very veins in her heart so that with every beat, she relives that precious moment. Arnav’s hair – a sexy mess and Khushi’s disheveled state or should that be thoroughly devoured? Uff! <3

It's heartening to see Arnav Varun back. The twinkle in his eyes, his flirtatious, drop dead gorgeous grin, and the lightness in him even if it lasts for little pieces of time. Mar jaawaan!

Bullet Electra! Heart thumps in anticipation, with a rapid tattoo that refuses to settle down! I wouldn’t mind becoming the mirror that rests on the machine. Wandering and wondering she finds herself gazing at his handsome reflection in the silver glass and finds her own next to it. In a beat, their eyes meet; she finds his sunrise-flecked ones and there’s a blush that paints her cheek, a twinkle that illuminates his eyes and a warmth that fills their hearts. Or can I be his scent? The scent that fills her as she presses her face into his back as the wind wipes over them. Can I be the pads of her fingers as they glide over his abs with just the thin layer of cloth separating the hard muscles from the hesitant exploration of artistic fingers? Sigh!

Meera, whatever I say wouldn’t begin to convey the beauty of the paradise you weave for us to revel in. Bewitched forever! :)

PS: Going to re-read a million times and one more; always one more.

      1. Nivi tum best Ho! Giving everyone an inferiority complex.

Run her hands over his abs – fabulous idea! And imagine the things she could do to the gash… ☺️ Bas they had better make use of this yummy trip on that mean machine!

Asli intezaar toh tumhare comments ka hota hain.
And your songs put chaar chand!

Gash is dangerous territory. Once thought about, no amount of anything can pull me back from the possibilities of what Khushi could do to it. If there’s a scene with that, now or in the future, I’ll keep ambulance on stand-by. XD

While Arnav Varun is more appealing, this chingari is enough to set our dreams on fire. We aren’t to blame here. Jaao pehle uss aadmi ka sign leke aao jisne humaari raaton ki neend churayi!

Will AV put on his aviators for the bike ride? ;)

Meera- room ke ander bhi ghus jaayenge. Sharam jaaye tel lene.

The little extra weight Khushi curses – just imagine, Arnav has that much more to touch. ;) XD

    1. Nivi is a witch, by the way. I can’t even..

That being said – excitement is getting totally out of control to forgive my incoherence.

Jhakaas Kiss. Worth the wait. A real kiss. Complete with tonsil hockey and bra strap visibility. Next time around let’s teach them the joys of a hickey. ;)

But this is the first time she didn’t completely throw Arjun out her mind as soon as AV made an appearance. She still thought of him, felt for him, felt remorse for the silent promise she cannot fulfil, for the heart she is going to have to break. Even I dread that confrontation. “Don’t break my heart”, that boy said with such sincerity. His heartbreak will break me too, I think.

But for the moment let’s focus on pleasant happenings. Dene wala jab bhi deta, chappar phaad ke deta hai. True saying. Kiss + bike ride + (insert other interesting things I hope will happen – they’d be idiots to waste the many tempting opportunities this trip to Rishikesh promises) Shiv-ji, get these two to make the best of it please.

These people need to communicate. Like with actual words and not intense/teasing gazes. And it has to come soon before there is another mountain of misunderstandings and secrets.

But we got a glimpse of old AV Sir – one I have missed so dearly. To me that was perhaps a tad bit more precious than even the long awaited kiss. I hope to see that boy come to life again, let go off the weight he’s been carrying around.

Happy update. Must enjoy while the merriment lasts. The heart is already thudding with fear for Arjun.

Peppy happy number for this fun update!

Gale se laga loon, labon pe saja loon
Tere afsaanon ko main apna bana loon
Dard hai halka sa, magar ho raha hai
      Jaan-e-jaan dilon pe pyaar ka
Ajab sa asar ho raha hai
Jo haal dil ka, bidhar ho raha hai
Woh haal dil ka, udhar ho raha hai

        1. And I love tonsil hockey, Twiggy! This was too much fun….almost as cool as the happy wala update…well, shall I amend and say largely happy wala….as you said thoughts of Arjun cast a pall of foreboding. Here’s hoping we will enjoy some pleasures of Rishikesh with these two people with double barreled names….lets hope they give each other a small piece of paradise, if nothing else…to treasure for the long future years of drought…because as per the prologue, it is not too far away….sigh!

    2. Yes, it takes two to tango, but this passionate shimmy took it to a whole other level. When Khushi’s lips touched Arnav’s it was like a flash fire, a spark to dry tinder, an instant explosive conflagration flaring out of control. His touch sent frissons of alien sensations coursing through her, making tiny bubbles of effervescence explode in her veins. His slow drugging kisses making her dizzy, immersed in a heavy fog of desire that swathes her in a hazy cloud.

Arnav leaning over to gently apply a cooling gel (is this the infamous silver nitrate gel?) to the angry wound on Khushi’s neck/shoulder, in turn re-awakens emotions that Khushi is having a hard time keeping in check. I can’t get the endearing image of this flushed, disheveled, thoroughly kissed young woman out of my head; a memorable first kiss that rocked the ground under her feet, sending tsunami like waves of molten fire coursing through her, rendering her breathless and turning her bones to jelly.

I am glad that instead of words they let their fused lips, thundering hearts and inquisitive fingers communicate their churning emotions, tender longing and the insatiable yearning of their souls. The spectre of Arjun makes his presence known even whilst these two lovers are swimming in the eddying whirls of passion. This time around Khushi’s thoughts of Arjun and his proposal are not a deterrent, but instead reaffirm her unalterable feelings for Arnav. She finally realizes she has to say NO to Arjun. Her refusal will no doubt break Arjun’s heart, but he needs to hear this ‘bitter truth’, so that he understands once and for all that he and Khushi can never be anything more than good friends.

I love this gentlemanly lover boy Arnav; not only is he is caring, tender, warm and amorous, but also has a wry sense of humor. I agree with him that it is a ‘messy’ situation and he and Khushi need to talk and address all the unanswered questions that have been bothering them; but first things first… they need to visit with a doctor in Rishikesh, get a professional opinion on Khushi’s burn wound and get her a tetanus shot.

I am hoping that this Rishikesh trip will provide them with the much needed time together, giving them an opportunity to talk to and learn about each other, discuss their career goals and the future of their fledgling relationship. I am well aware separation is imminent for these young lovers, but will this parting be an amicable one or one fraught with heartbreak and sadness ?!?

Meera, thank you for surprising us with this delightful chapter !! I am looking forward to the bike ride to Rishikesh and some tender stolen moments for the lovebirds. <3

O Mere Humrahi Meri Banh Thame Chalna
Badle Duniya Saari Tum Na Badalna

      2. That was a lovely comment divz. It was with him that she discovers the secrets of desire, from the start. Remember that walk after the first rehearsal in book one, where she’s sort of spooked by the physical reaction that she has towards him and then the imagined kiss :-) Now the girl may think if that is all there is between them. Its that conflict between her heart and mind which will steer the course of things.

I agree these two share a fiery attraction and love for music, but they don’t know much about each other. In order for a relationship to be successful you need more than just physical compatibility. I am hoping on this trip to Rishikesh they will get a chance to talk, really talk, get to learn about each other, small steps but necessary nonetheless. Now Khushi’s heart know it beats solely for her Arnav and her mind tells her she has to say ‘NO’ to Arjun, so I don’t know what will trigger this kashmakash between her heart and mind making her step back from Arnav. I am going nuts thinking of what could possibly have transpired to make these two part ways ?!?!

      3. Eloquent, articulate….umm…the constructs…erm….running out of words here! Divz, kya…kya tha yeh?! Wow! Loved it jaaneman! Kitni baar bolein, write something for us…a short story, a long story, anything!!! This was beautiful baby! 😘😘

lol I loved the use of gentlemanly lover boy Arnav..almost paints a picture of a well-behaved teenager(if those two words go together ever that is!) in my head :D
The separation can’t be amicable Divz. Can there ever be one? If the trip to Rishikesh is good and a memorable one, then only a really potent reason can pull these two apart. They both realise how much they need to be in each other’s life and that the time to run away from each other is over. It will be hard to keep away from each other after this. So, I dread it. This is a blissful phase for them, and to go from here to not knowing the whereabouts of Arnav(prologue) a few years from here on…..shudder to think what went so wrong between them. But I also think about the ‘wooing’ that will follow the desolation phase in the next book.

Keep calm and read on is the mantra Divz! :D

You girls are too kind !! 😘
Arnav does behave like a teenager, especially his stuttering and stammering and his vacillating mind which drives us all nuts!!😉
After these memorable moments and the upcoming trip to Rishikesh what can possibly happen to drive a wedge between the two, making them withdraw from each other. I have been driving myself crazy thinking of the how, what, why’s 😳
I think I should take you advise and just sit back and rides the waves. When the great deluge occurs we will hang on for dear life, hug it out and survive thinking of upcoming sunny, cheerful days of Book 3 😊

    1. It is high time that these two stopped playing hide and seek – hiding true feelings from oneself, and the other. With this update, I saw them being themselves without any restraints after giving free rein to their own hearts – even if the stolen moments were intermittently marred by the royal mess that is their reality. Before I get all jubilant about the bike ride, I have to remind myself that it is going to downhill, and that too soon. The question that will keep us awake now is still the same as in the last few weeks – what goes wrong from this point when the two did not need words to bare their heart to each other. How did it go from this ‘true beginning’ to nothing for next few years? I am really looking forward to seeing what you have in store there for us Meera :)

I loved this point of no return. It cemented in Khushi’s mind that she can never see Arjun in the same light as she sees Arnav. The idea of giving the relationship with Arjun a try, was a seed planted in Khushi’s mind by the twin sisters called guilt and self-preservation. Fortunately for me, these twins seem to be incapable of nurturing the seed sufficiently to let it germinate, and grow into a plant that can withstand the force called destiny. Not when destiny is hell bent on confronting the twins by putting Arnav and Khushi in close quarters whenever possible. Every such confrontation, makes Khushi realize dimensions of her that she was not aware of before – selfishness, desire, and even vengeance. After all, she is human too – she had once selfishly used Arjun as a shield, and now had wanted to selfishly create a memory, potentially as a keepsake before proceeding to kiss him.

(“I was never with Ar…” She stopped herself in time. She may not have been with Arjun technically. But she had made a silent promise to herself. And to him. And now it lay broken. “If I was, I would never…I could never do that to him.” The warmth of the kiss was fast fading from her lips.) – To me, this moment was akin to Khushi regurgitating aloud the realization that hit her clearly in the last few minutes, amidst all the raging hormones – the fact that she has to reject Arjun’s proposal. But then, when I thought she had some clarity, she seemed to succumb to the maelstrom of confusion on hearing his words “This is a mess”. One minute she is musing about how AV can read her, and the other she thinks whether her feelings and her inability to walk away from him were invisible to him. She is back in that vortex of never ending thoughts and even brings Saira into it. This girl has been on a roller coaster ride every minute of Book 2, and her mind is constantly amidst the rapids, which she has so far faced only once physically during the rafting trip. So, I am not judging her at all. Everyone deserves a right to make and live through their mistakes.

“Relationships, her mother had said and she had always believed, were best worked when it was one of equals. This…this thing with Arnav Varun – it would never be equal. He would always hold this insane power over her. She knew it now.” – When will she realize that she has the same influence on him?! Pagli! :)

Now, what is with this erstwhile demi-god who goes from the ‘stunning stutterer’ to the ‘eternal whisperer’? “He whispered and pressed his forehead against hers.” Hai Ram! Arnav Varun is going to be the death of me. Now, coming back to commenting – “We are not going to forget about this”, & “There is no going back to Arjun, either.” You say they were uttered like a plea, its polite, almost formal edges laced with a shard of urgency. To me it signals his last desperate attempt to drive sense into this girl who creates havoc in him. Looks like destiny, along with Khushi, aided him in his mission today.

Clearly, desire was evident on both sides today, as they fight intermittently with guilt and a messy reality. The moment where the shared mechanical engineering background made its presence felt, was a welcome relief for them and us, from the heavily charged atmosphere :) Also, I found the part about how Arjun had creeped into the space between them as a wispy memory was very well written. But I guess, even that creepy presence of the proverbial third wheel could not bring down long suppressed yearnings of hearts :)

      Lastly:

      1. Throughout my first reading of the update, I was bracing for someone to barge into the tent. Luckily it did not happen, a least so far. :) :) :) So of course, I had a crazy grin on my face for most of the afternoon!

      2. “She frowned as her chest thumped nervously from within. Why was she thinking about getting over him? This should be the beginning. This was the true beginning. The answer was so obvious she was surprised it had taken her all this while to come to it. She blamed him – this person who was still holding her.” I read this a few times, and still am not sure if I am understanding this rightly – is the obvious answer the fact that she had, in her mind, committed to Arjun because of which she is thinking about getting over Arnav? And is she blaming Arnav for making her lose her control? Now, I don’t know if I am making sense.

      3. This is a mess. All of us…we really need to talk… – what would she have heard from Arnav if she had not been stuck on his first sentence? Mmmmm ….. still wondering…..

Honestly have nothing more to add here!!!
You , me , Meenu, Lavz, Divz all have always been apprehensive about what really leads to the prologue.

      2. Anu, a beautiful dissection of every aspect of what that chapter meant. Simply incredible that she does not seem to realize he harbours similar feelings for her. Like you, I worry about things going downhill either at Rishikesh or immediately after. However, will take all the small drops of sunshine at this point, and greedily hoard them like Khushi in IPK did with her stars! Beautiful! But yes, let us gear up for the sad times…and they are coming….Meera ominously warns us that Khushi looks at this kiss as a goodbye rather than a harbinger of good times….devastation!

        “Arjun.”

This is where I actually screamed NAHINNNNN! I actually thought he was standing there and K was looking at him! This man unnerves me with his presence and absence too! He is a big psychological roadblock on the road to Lurrrve! :P

Like you the entire fandom is thankful that Arjun did not interrupt this magical moment.
I too was stumped by Khushi feeling that the kiss was a harbinger of the end, rather than the beginning of something beautiful !! Does this girl possess a sixth sense or is it her insecurity an anxiety that is making feel this way when all she should be feeling is euphoria ?!?
Loved the new phrase eternal whisperer coined by you for our sputtering hero Arnav.

I had thought I’d come today during break and share my 2 cents,…..shayad should have done that before going through the the comments.

Ur comment is so beautiful, strategically written and truly heartfelt.
As I read through it, my head keep bobbin in agreement with every scenario discussed.
I agree, inspite of Arjun appearance, mentally even, can not be blamed. That is just just so true to Kaveri. Although this Anger/jealousy that seems to surface on Varun’s voice every time Arjun’s thought as much as crosses her mind is something I’d like to explore.

There definitely seems to be something between Arjun N Varun that Khushi isn’t made aware of or isn’t being able to see, (which is also keeping us in the blind regarding the same).

I still have to write my comment,. Lekin saman nahi aa raha kaha se shuru karu….😳🙃

@Meera Aati hu thodi dear mein, dilko Thoda quabu Mein karke aur dimaag ko Thoda focus Mein dalke….

      1. Too many distractions this week kept me away from River….But I am here now ;)

        Update – 😊😊😊

Every line about the update is exciting and thrilling, I will give anything to know what’s going on in AV’s brain. A week ago in River years AV was not even looking at Khushi and today they are kissing each other 😊, way to go AV Sir but but your sane mind speaks about the mess and much needed talk – high time you do it. The distance that has been covered without having a proper talk – Kya yehi pyar hain ? Haan Haan yehi pyar hain !!

Barring Ti-Di’s warning coming back to the camp, there is a decision behind his early arrival. It is not impulsive like the other night, there is surety to his actions and I like to believe that with/without khushi’s accident this would have happened. There are so many things unsaid between the two that it was becoming hard for both Khushi & Arnav to take that one step forward and for once AV has taken that step forward and also the next one that there is no going back to Arjun, either! Hopefully return of Ti-Di shouldn’t make him backtrack his decision…

For Khushi -The thought that AV’s past with Saira doesn’t matter to her and all her apprehensions about him walking away from this, his past experience being a grand example for her, Yes if they had the talk about Saira this fear would have been curbed but because it is not so Khushi shouldn’t take her next step based on this…

The final conclusion – they are not going to forget this and also no going back to Arjun, what is there to separate them?? Khushi’s fears?? Arnav’s guiding forces?? or any factor which I cannot of at this point ;)? Now it is not about someone else coming in between them, it is more of a conscious decision from both the sides to come together, the prologue doesn’t look like they have come together….so we wait…

Thank you Meera for bringing the ghost of Arjun and not him! XD

The bike ride ..someday…hopefully it is Monday :)

    1. The chapter name itself gave that Meera di is gonna us what we all have been waiting so eagerly for! Totally worth the wait and much more. So true .. Dene waala jab bhi deta jhappar phaad ke! We are going to get a bike ride on Electra and hope some more in giving into their wants 😃
The kiss was yummy.Hope I’m not being too..ermmm.. Can’t help it after this update!!!! Have gone crazy basically.😁 The confusion she has just for addressing him is so genuine. He also showed so much change from being a broody weighed down AV Sir in River to being cheesy and then some streaks of college back into this Arnav. This needs to be back completely which might be possible with their really needed talk. It’s really a mess for both of them. The talk with Arjun is defiantly not going to be easy. What reason is she going to give and how is he going to take that? He promised their friendship won’t be affected in any way.
The smile not coming to her face as she kissed brought in some fear that she was going to go back to being guilty and may be not think about them. But Arnav’s pleading command, if that does even makes sense, put a break to all those returning to Arjun and not thinking about them. She is going to give them a chance and she has decided that without even knowing about S. So happy to see that she acknowledges that she was ore than delusional to even think of giving Arjun a chance.
Sometimes I feel like writer ji keeps drooling over him and them together as she writes. Dead drop gorgeous. That’s what she writes, feels more like her. Achha hai. We drool over here while commenting :P

    1. Arnav – Khushi have this chemistry which would burn everything in the vicinity . Khushi for the first time is feeling like a women , her body is set on fire with just a kiss . Arnav would have understood his power over her just like she has on him . Physical attraction is the first attraction later comes trust and Love .

The kiss has proved her whom she really love , Arjun is , was always a friend . She couldn’t think anything beyond friendship with Arjun . She really need to tell Arjun that she chose Arnav . The conversation with Arjun will be heart breaking *sigh* Love is complicated

For now i am happy with the progress between AV & Khushi . Bike Ride to Rishikesh , it is like dream coming true .

Khushi took big leap and gave into her hearts desires. I hope she will have heart to heart conversation with Arjun really soon.

    1. Oh my god! That was some update!
But how did it go from here to “the name that was threatening to disrupt her world. Again”. There is a feeling of dread which I can’t overlook. The fight between the girl’s mind and heart is still on and probably will continue. That she’ll definitely turn down Arjun is sure now, but the aftermath of that does not let her start a relationship with the person she wants to be with. Why do I feel that lot of skeletons are going to come out of the closet?
But in the meantime, we wait for that bike ride, something to tide us over the heartbreak on the way…
The wait is going to be excruciating this week :-)

Okay should I feel guilty that I don’t feel bad that Khushi will break Arjun’s heart as for some reason I don’t feel he is serious about her and he will recover and rebound really well with the next girl!! Wow that was a kiss, u really cant go back from it now. Cannot wait to see where you will go from here hopefully they all will talk and move forward!!!!

The kiss! No wonder europe is so hot these days. Itni saari hotness! I am burning in this heat.
Nobody saw them kissing? I was on tenterhooks all the time waiting for an interruption or for it to be a dream.
Does she realise the hold he has on her. She listened to him unquestioningly and is going for the tetanus shot. And she wanted to give this up for Arjun. She could never have done that. Wish she’d let him talk and atleast listen to his explanation. Wish she’d give him a chance!
The upcoming bike ride is bound to keep us all up in the clouds till next monday.
Hoping for atleast one more romantic chapter befor you bring us down to earth.

(Thats a ghazal sung by Ghulam Ali called Mareez-e-mohabbat! My personal favourite! )

I was happy Arnav wasn’t ready to let go of her this time. And more happy because she was willing to acknowledge the fact that there is no other way other than his way. I loved the fact that they were willing to deal with the Arjun situation together because both of them wanted the additional complication resolved as soon as possible. It seemed almost like a reflex when she said “I have to tell him first”! The belief that she just couldn’t be with Arjun had won the battle at last! At least now, there is no hemming and hawing about what needs to be done. It is crystal clear. Although the thought of repercussions of her decision regarding Arjun are weighing on her mind, her heart has finally been set free, feeling light enough to fly, rather ride!

The dugdug is Bullet Electra!?! The firing fires my heart beat re Meeru Jaan! I have heard a lot of stories of the chhoti dholki along with it :D Personally, I am of the opinion that motorcycles (if I may dare call this beauty that!) are made for romance! It is THE vehicle which gives you the feeling of togetherness, physically and emotionally … you are literally flying along with him/her because you are technically in air!! :D Wise words of experience! ;)

So there is no doubt that this is going to be a joy ride, what with AV Sir ji being in such top class form and mood! Khushi will remember this eventful day for the rest of life. Poor thing, she has been witnessing eventful changes in her life with the rising and setting of the sun every single day since she has set foot in this place! If the capriciousness nature of life has to be experienced for real, this is it really! The entire turn of events were unexpected right from day one, including the accident today!! A person would lose his/her mind in this process but she’s still standing tall. Proud of her, honestly!

Happiness is what I feel right now, though some corner of my heart dreads the impending storm. But I’ll ignore it for now and bask in this sunshine you’ve bestowed upon us today! Beautiful update after a long wait, just what the doctors prescribed!

The update reminded me of a song. Songs like these stay with you because they are incredulously stupid & irritatingly hilarious and you wonder…what the hell was the lyricist smoking when he wrote this one!?! ;) :D

      3. Those lines from the ghazal are beautiful!

True. Khushi’s been on a rollercoaster right from the moment she stepped into the camp. Even amidst this joy when the thought of impending heartbreak seeps in, it just feels like – Chaar dino ka pyaar O Rabba, badi lambi judaai.

That Govinda song! 😂 What were they thinking?!

But sohniye now I need a long comment from Arnav’s point of view as well. You see you have spoiled us now and I am still thirsty to read more from you. Take your time when u can do it but definitely write when time and mood permits Meri jaan.❤️❤️

  6. Oh god what’s going on here Meera! That kiss was gigantic leap of relationship and man I am going to hold you on to it since you have raised my expectations and standards of first kiss. It felt like molten larva generating heat out there in the first part of the update.

To tell you the truth, how much ever I enjoy the kiss and the giddy feeling of love Khushi feel, my heart is breaking thinking over Arjun. I understand Khushi knows what she is doing but however her actions are going to burn and scar Arjun and I simply simply can’t stand and watch it. Hence I can’t truly enjoy Arnav and Khushi and their this happiness in finding each other. It’s all a complicated royal mess! My heart is with the losers Meera, you know the unrequited lovers, may be because I haven’t moved past being one, I simply can’t enjoy this romance. Your writing is brilliant and it does make me feel the beautiful magic called love. Love is pain as well as an illusion. What I feel is Arjun’s future pain caused by love and Khushi’s illusion called love.

      1. Thanks dear, though I never thought so, my words are the reflection of my feelings which I felt when I read the story. For me love has always been an illusion. For 4 years Khushi had not been sure of her feelings for Arnav. I agree there was something unresolved conflict in her heart. 5 days before Arnav makes a comeback in her life and things go uphill. All those conflicts and tugs of desire and availability of Arnav and potential unavailability of Khushi is what pulling strings here (according to me) and yes from the prologue we know there is a break in the relationship. May be all these contributed to my saying love is an illusion

In the ways of the heart listen to your own and not care about breaking another’s otherwise u give them a lifetime of hurt rather than that one shock! Loved it u portrayed it sooo beautifully really enjoying your story thanks

  9. Hi meera,
This story is fab…but arnav is still very much a mystery….which i would love if unravelled soon….and i had this doubt since u started this ff..how fat is khushi actually here….because we cannot picture sanaya in the same frame as overweight….

          1. The thing is there is no clear cast in my head. Especially because they are pretty young. She is just 21! So it’s a little difficult to find the right people. Plus even when I cast CW and EIT – it remained less than satisfactory :S

            1. When I read books, I imagine characters based on authors description and I like that way. If the character remains with me without a face then it is really a good book for me. And Meera your Kaveri Khushi remains with me without a face and also as a beautiful person inside out!

Sometimes when they make movies based on books, I don’t like shaking up my imagination and usually stay away from such movies ..Reading and imagining stuff is one creative quality that I have I think and I like it to keep intact :)

              1. Interesting take on cast Lavs…

For me, I have not yet hated movie cast for ruining the book’s character. Often, it has only helped me enjoy the movie better. Be it Hunger Games or Gone with the wind. But that does not mean it will never happen ☺

                1. I understand your point…..it is a plus to read the book and then watch the movie, but sometimes I am not satisfied with the actors or acting or screenplay, the movie spoils the book for me…so I like books better…but I do have an exception “Lord of the rings” is an amazing amazing movie, but then movie was nothing less compared to books :)

        1. That’s the thing I don’t have someone in mind. Films and Tv hardly cast overweight women so it’s a little bit of a challenge to find a face that will go with my idea!

          1. I don’t need cast Meera. Your story creates imaginative characters and I personally am happy with them. Sometime Braun Sobti ( as in GIfs posted by sanki sisters)does come into picture for some of AV sir but def not sanaya or any other—

  11. Hi Meera,

I have an interview lined up tomorrow and I was preparing for it and suddenly, Bam! I got a mail with the latest update.

I was torn between reading more about MYSQL and update and I guess what I chose is obvious. :-)

But it made me happy. It was truly wonderful. The crazy rush of adrenaline which comes with first love and first kiss. It is one of those things which you do not forget. It maybe clumsy, awkward or messy, but it still holds the charm of a lifetime.

AV here is a good looking guy but does not love make us look at world and object of our admiration with rose tinted glasses?

And the end of it was the song. I DO understand the lyrics. And the word Sairat means wild, crazy and much more. It cannot be translated.

The post reminded me of a line from a much more soft song/poetry in Marathi. It says “Ye aaj reshamane deshil kaataru yaa” which can be roughly translated to “let’s cut the silk with silk (silk is used for touch)”. Ah, how frustrating it is to try explaining it in other language.

    1. Stupid autocorrect! Since it was messed up, I thought of giving the whole couplet. The full line was ” He shwaas reshami, an he sparsh reshamache, Ye aaj reshamane reshim kaataru ya” ( The breaths feel like silk and the touch is silk, let’s carve silk with silk)

  12. Damnnnnnnnn yessss!!!!! Bullet is hereeeee… Hahahahahaha… Was this a part of the original plan or u got so many requests for this bike ride after u ditched us last time??? I guess a hit of both…
I officially love Mondays now… All thanks to u… I don’t know how to wait for another week to read further… This update was beyond perfect…. Exactly what I wanted… All arnav and khushi and no one else… And it has happened after so long…. I loved it that khushi is not running away at the moment and is ready to explore her feelings with Arnav… I know she will talk to Arjun and it can’t be a cake walk considering his feelings… What I m hating is that khushi and Arnav will not be together even after all this… Considering the present story that’s what I am guessing… Can’t trust khushi to be bold and selfish and grab her chance to have a happily ever after…. She is sensitive and won’t leave her friend wounded….
Or I am just totally wrong and they are actually together in the present story too?? Maybe taking their time to explore the relationship.. Like a distance relationship?? And now arnav is there as her boss to surprise her… Too cliché? Damn I am going mad….

So it’s better that I wait for you to tell the story😂😂😂😂
Continue soon Pls… U can feel what I am going through right???

Hope things got better at your end.
It’s Eid and you updated that to
a wonderful update. Finally they kissed.I don’t have words to explain what I feel now. After reading Two to Tango and all I could think was about the prologue “what would have happened between them “.
Then I thought I will just enjoy the current flow and dream about the Bike ride.

By the way I do say car for my SUV
😋.We changed our car to a SUV last year but the habit of saying (should I say shouting)”Get in to the car quickly “is still stuck with me.
I have decided to take an effort to change that.
Hope we get a romantic breathtaking bike ride update next time 😋I’am being greedy I know!!!

    They kissed — yay
    Complete kiss
He used tongue also( I am cheeky today)
    He also touched her back
He can not stop looking at her lips

    He cared for her wound

He actually made her bun( for me that was aww moment, even more than actual kiss❤️) and touched her neck/ shoulder

He told her not to go back to Arjun

Flirty , lighthearted AV sir is finally back

He was as affected as her after the kiss

He suggested her to wear what kind of clothes

He still behaved gentlemanly and stepped outside to let her change😜

He had soothing gel in his backpack for her wound–does that mean he came prepared and he was informed by someone about Khushi’s accident and he cane running— here this is answer to our speculations

He promised to take her on his Dug dug👌👌

      1. Charu, I too heard it just 2 days ago. I think Yashraj films released this as the teaser for the upcoming movie “Befikre”. The original video is full of kissing. I thought if I share that link here, some people might not like it. So just shared the audio.
But its such a beautiful song dedicated to “Kiss” and I thought it suits for Arnav and Khushi’s first proper kiss.

          1. IKR the captions are beautiful. A “kiss” could mean so many different feelings.
The lyrics does not exactly mean the captions. Overall it says that “Ishq labon ka kaaroobar” , meaning ” love is the business of the lips “

  23. Meera,

Thank you for the most awesome update. My comments are not just extremely delayed but will now likely see a repetition of what all our River sisters have said before me so beautifully! My apologies for that, no excuses except to say that the comment I typed up got deleted by wonderful Word Press two times in a row! I know seriously! Perhaps I need to stop doing this while I am half asleep and in bed! Haha! The need to get through and commend you for a job well done always appears to take precedence!

Anyway, moving on….this was incredible. Arnav and Khushi confronting their feelings and realizing finally that what they have for each other cannot be dispelled as mere attraction. A mind blowing kiss….one into which they poured all their passions and bottled up emotions over the years. Thanks to that earlier interlude and Arnav’s point of view, I realize the feelings were always just as strong for him as they were for her. Breathtakingly beautiful…..if the River were a movie, this scene would surely have merited to it being R rated! Haha! Khushi is unable to believe she initiated something like this and rightly so. This was possibly the first time she did something for herself and said to hell with the consequences! I hope this will mean that she will work it out with Arnav, although the prologue is looming in the recesses of mind and telling me that these beautiful moments might be ephemeral at best. Atleast, Khushi is now forced to accept that she was being thoroughly delusional in expecting to give a relationship with Arjun a shot when all her nerve endings only screamed one name….Arnav Varun is now embedded in her soul. Relationship of equals it may never be, but with this incendiary passion and their strong feelings for each other, they need to at the very least, give it a shot! Loved how Arnav seemed to sense it too….he realizes she might dismiss the kiss Asa bad idea. He refuses to let her go back to Arjun by telling her they need to talk about this. Khushi for a change agrees! Until now she has perceived Arnav as AV Sir from the University, now she realizes he is Arnav first and foremost. She is uncertain what she should even call him! Loved that he starts to call her Khushi yet again….Kaveri has now receded in the ebb and flow of emotions….the motorcycle journey to Rishikesh will hopefully give us a few more flashes of the passion and possessiveness of Arnav Varun and the further capitulation of Kaveri Khushi Gupta…sigh, if nothing else, hopefully it will give them some beautiful memories to cherish in a treasure trove until they meet again!

    Superb….take a bow! 😘🙏🏼

    Hugs,

    Anu

  24. That was a toe curling, heart jumping, me all swooning kiss. The messy hair Arnav and the deshelved or better yet ravishly devoured khushi, if only “they can get what they want”.

It was amazing to see the glimpses of the old Arnav Varun underneath this Arnav and I’m so happy that he made his appearance in khushi’s presence.

I was so unhapy when khushi refused the bike ride back than but now I know why. Coz it wasn’t a bike or bullet ride it is “Bullet Electra”, and maybe they can have anither kiss like her first kiss.

One that khushi is going to remember for her lifetime like she said. One that cleared all the confusion that there is no going back from here. How they sort this mess out is to be seen.

P.S. I’m still to hear the song. But like other river songs i’m sure it will be awesome.

  25. And this week..Bullet it is. after a long wait that makes my dhak dhakks haphazard….I am so much in love with this part as atleast she felt it’s a begining….my athma shanti…finally, me and khushi are on same page after so many chapters phew😒. Now now… tht bullet raja saheb has given me wayward thoughts….this song flashed after reading this chapter…esp 4 av s question to khushi…
“Kora kaagaz tha yeh mann mera
Likh diya naam iss mein tera
    Soona aangan tha jeevan mera
    Gayaa pyaar jiss mein teraa”…

  26. Hayee!

I’m so happy that there was no intrusion. It would have made things bad and frankly at this point of time, I didn’t want Khushi to be burdened some more. Plus it was good that the non-intrusion gave way to her concentrating purely on the kiss, the aftermath of it, and more importantly, Arjun. Things are so fickle at the moment right now; every chapter throws in a twist that makes us wonder how things will go ahead from now on. For example, it was obvious for us to have guessed that Arjun would walk in on the two of them and a guilty Khushi would break things off with Arnav then and there. But now we know that that would mean cheating Arjun. What then shall unfold after this? I think I need to stop speculating.

Oh and thank you for the song…it is awesome. You don’t need to know the meaning of the lyrics…the music itself is beautiful for people to fall in love with it.

  27. Meera muaaaahhhh :)
That was truly a Sairat update it has pulled the cords in my heart and I am completely over the moon.
They kissed they did it and what kiss it was ..isshhhh 🙈
Finally Khushi has heard what her heart wants her to listen..yes she belongs to Arnav. Even if they aren’t together Arjun is never an option coz it’s just not right.
I am happy she has taken decision to tell Arjun the truth I am proud of her..this conversation wud be very difficult on her part as somehow I feel Arjun will do his best to influence her (m saying this looking at his behaviour few days before when he spoke to Khushi) hoping against the hope that she makes him understand and I feel he will agree with her decision otherwise how are we going to relate to Prologue :D
Seriously love you Meera for the Prologue otherwise I don’t know what I have done without it.
    Arnav ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What should I say about him how can he be so handsome and so cute at the same time. How do u manage to make him so damn good..Sighhhh..!! (He is not good for my married life.lol )
Loved how he understands the unspoken thoughts in her head how he catches her lies. Beautiful.
I m excited about Electra ride..waiting for Monday to come.

  30. A chapter full of Arnav and Khushi.

Only the two of them, no one else…

What are they going to talk about?

I would say their seperation was the after effect of the talk she is goinb to have with Arjun. The guilt of hurting him left her no choice but to stay away from Arnav

There was a point where you have hinted us with “goodbye”. Then again, coming back to him… I m totally confused…

I would have to refer to prologue, it says they were meeting after years…

What went wrong between the kiss and back to prologue…

You are a cruel writer…. Messing with our mind with your wickedness

The kiss, and his ability to read her mind… Was it the reason for her decision to go seperate ways… Or was Saira going to be the cause? The long overdue talk definitly will include Saira… Then again, he was totally into her even then…. So, that is not an option…
Not even his ability to read her mind and them not been equel in the relation as her mothers advice, that is not an option either.

So, I m left with the Guilt… Of hurting Arjun…

Anxiously looking forward for their lone time

  33. Kyun itna dard izhaar-e- ishq deta hai,
Chahat agar na ho mukkamal to gham deta hai.

Hai malum mujhe yeh ek khwab hai lekin,
Tera narmi se pesh aana, aag ko hawa deta hai.

Nazron se teri hai Hal-e- dil zahir,
Hichkichana tera jale pe namak kar deta hai.

Arjun is as important to me. He is very important part of the story.
He is in for a real pain…
    This is for my Arjun.

        1. Hi Anu,
I was trying to help you with translation but I think it sucks…so you better stick with Google translate.

          Last couplet….lets finish what I started…though I shouldn’t have in first place…

Your eyes speaks volume about your intentions
Your hesitant action, rubs salt on my wounds,

It sounds like I am learning to cook…instead of writing a poetry…😀😀😀

Jis baat se darte the, wohi kaam kar gaye.

Sambhala tha dil ko aaj tak badi mushkil se,
Bahon main aake teri, khud jina mushkil kar gaye.

Rabta hai dil, dard-e-ishq se fir bhi,
Tumhi pe magar, dil apna fida kar gaye

Aur kya lachari ho dil-e-bebas ki,
Haare khud se aur sajde main tere sar kar gaye.

    For my khushi

    Tujhse be-takkaluf ho gaye

    Tujhse kahe bina apna Hal-e-dil,
Tera hi jazba bayan kar gaye.

Kuchh iss tarha se pechida hai wo nigahein,
uss hasin jaal main khud hi giraftar ho gaye.

Aur kuchh bhi ho ab ke ye na hone denge,
Dhanak leke aaye woh,shab-e- hijr kar gaye.

  37. Wow…..be still my heart. The crush she had just transformed itself into a full blown attack of everlasting love and physical attraction at full speed while her poor mind in the background is still trying to desperately remind her of Arjun and all the reasons why she can not give in to hear hearts desires etc. ever the pragmatic Kaveri!!! Half undressedm plastered to the man of her dreams and trying to think logically. Love this girl.

Amazing how you have literally taken like 5-10 minutes and made that into a full blown update with emotional turmoil center stage. So looking forward to more. i am picturing Kaveri with a a Dimple Kapadia like persona……not skinny but well rounded lol.

  38. After that scorching kiss, even the searing pain in her burn took a back seat :-)

“She had just said she needed to talk to Arjun first – it implied that she would come back to…this…that they shared.” Arjun has been her best friend for so long and as she admitted to herself, she had been her true self without inhibitions only with him and her sister. So, naturally, saying no to him is not a simple task by any means; she does not want to lose that friend and what she had with him. And this thought weighs in in her mind all the time, even as she shares these passionate moments with Arnav.

Choices like this are hard – someone has to be hurt. But however much a person can pretend and hide even the innermost feelings, being true to one’s own self, accepting that and making decisions based on that cannot always be easy.

And Khushi is so young – sigh!

  39. Woah. What a kiss. WHAT A KISS. Its B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. bas, so passionate, so intense. A chapter full of Arnav-Khushi. A happy chapter that is. wow. Now cant wait enough for more of them. Though knowing they won’t be together by the end of this part, but there has to be something major if even after this they dont give themselves a chance. Looking forward to see ahead, very impatiently that too.

I followed the blog, I’m next to ignorant how things work here, am i supposed to get email notifications, that i haven’t got. I’m confused. :(

  40. Umm… I don’t know why Khushi thinks she can go anywhere except forward after that pure hotness of a kiss!. Arnav, true to his character, is not letting her get away with her own efforts to jeopardize this. So I’m waiting with so much anticipation to see what happens next. I’m really glad and relieved that her original tentative plan of saying yes to Arjun has been scrapped.

And cannot help but comment on the ending dedication song. That was so beautiful, brought up so many memories. Chatting among their respective group of friends, while holding another conversation with eyes and silent gestures between the two of them. :) The dancing while doing PE was just hilarious :D
